Falcons training camp 2026: five storylines that will define the season

Training camp is almost here, and the vibes in Flowery Branch are the best they've been in years. Before the pads come on, here's what the Bird Gang should actually be watching.

1. The offense finds its identity

Every offseason comes with talk of "unlocking" this roster. The pieces are legitimately there — a bell-cow back, a true number-one receiver, and a young quarterback with a live arm. Camp is where we find out whether the play-calling matches the talent. Watch how often the first-team offense pushes the ball downfield in team periods. That tempo tells you everything.

2. The pass rush has to show up early

You can't fix a pass rush in September. If the front four can't win one-on-ones against our own offensive line in camp, that's a problem no scheme can hide. The first two padded practices will say more than any press conference.

3. Secondary depth gets tested immediately

Return jobs and the bottom five roster spots get decided by special teams, full stop. The preseason games will matter more for these guys than for anyone else on the roster.
